Description
Tremella (Tremella fuciformis) is a medicinal mushroom that we call the ‘dessert mushroom’ due to its beautiful, slightly sweet vanilla avour. For thousands of years, this herb has been used by the noble men and women of the Orient as a youth-preserving tonic and for a healthy, radiant complexion. The Taoists observed this function of tremella when it was used daily, and the moist, soft skin that results from its consumption was attributed largely to the lubrication that tremella brings to the connective and deep tissue (fascia), including the vital organs. Tremella contains potent antioxidants that scavenge for free radicals (known to cause in ammation and cell damage) and is said to enhance the body’s own antioxidant production, especially superoxide dismutase, the ultimate free radical scavenger.
